Lunch for my 2 year old, seems to happen at a different time everyday. No matter how hard I try to keep a routine, especially with meals, sometimes it just doesn't work out. Most days she still takes about a 1-2 hour nap (especially when I've done a good job at wearing her out!) But that being said, she still always gets her 3 meals a day, balanced with the nutrition she needs.
Being the picking eater that she is, I've found it easier for her to eat when her options are single choices and separated. My goal is always to fill her up with breakfast first, snacks afterwards if she asks for one, and then have a couple hour gap between that and offering lunch. This way, I know she's worked up an appetite again and not going to pick at her lunch and want to fill up on snacks all afternoon!
Here are some of our go to lunch options:
•Cheese quesadilla, black olives and raspberries.
•Chicken, noodles with alfredo sauce, and avacado. (Left overs for the win!)
•Lunch meat (roast beef, ham or turkey), cheese, and strawberries.
•Chicken tenders, tater tots, and grapes.
•Beef hot dog, macaroni and cheese, and apple slices.
